September 2019 Action Guide

Welcome to a new academic year! It's CRS Student Ambassador Fall Regional Training season, and we are looking forward to seeing many of you around the country this fall! If you haven't registered yet, make sure to register today! This guide will help jumpstart your year and can be used flexibly to get you started before your fall training, to get the rest of your campus involved, to lead a meeting, or just to help you organize your plans.

We can't wait to see what you will do as leaders and advocates for the global common good! Don't forget to keep an eye out on Instagram at @CRSUniversity for photos from other campuses, and tag us in what you're doing, too!

September 2019: Fall Kick-Off & I am Migration

Opening Prayer

Community Building

  • Share the CRS Student Ambassador Overview Video
  • Welcome any new CRS Student Ambassadors and ask what they are most excited about or what brought them here.
  • If you are a returning CRS Student Ambassador, what has been fun and meaningful about your experience?

Catholic Social Teaching - Refugees & Migrants

  • Watch: Catholic Teaching on Welcoming Refugees
  • Reflect:
    • According to the video, what is the Church's teaching on migration?
    • If Jesus comes to us in the refugee, what might be the benefits and blessings to us and to our country of welcoming them? What might be the consequence of turning them away?
    • What can we do? How might God be inviting you to advocate for refugees and migrants in our world today?

    • What key dates on the 2019-2020 Calendar might align well? Is there something happening on campus you can connect with?
      • Some options: International Day of Peace (Sept. 21), World Day of Migrants and Refugees (Sept. 29), World Food Day (Oct. 16), Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 16-24), World Day of the Poor (Nov 17)
    • Host an advocacy table in a busy area where people can stop by and take action on their way to class or lunch.
