June 2021: Lead to Support Refugee Children and Families

CRS Programming and Stories

Read and pray with stories and resources featuring innovative CRS programs. These programs provide the tools to combat forced migration due to conflict, fragility, hunger and changing climates.

This Month's Actions

Leadership

  • Chapter Member Survey: Complete this survey about your experience as a university chapter member by June 21, 2021.

  • Visit the Upcoming Events website to see virtual events universities are holding. Notify your CRS Regional Representative if your campus is hosting a CRS-focused virtual event.

National Chapter Call

All chapter leaders, members and advisors are invited to participate live in this month’s National Chapter Call on June 12 at 1 p.m. EDT.

  • If you do not receive the Zoom information on June 4 and would like to join, please email university@crs.org.

  • If you are unable to join live, the recording of the call will be sent via email to chapter leaders and advisors soon after the call concludes.

  • After watching the call (live or the recording), don’t forget to complete this month’s skill-building action sheet action.

Advocacy

  • June Skill-building Action Sheet (en español)

    • June’s Action Sheet action: Write a personal email to your U.S. Senator(s) urging them to increase poverty-reducing international development and humanitarian assistance in the Fiscal Year 2022 budget. Urge them to take the next step by speaking with leaders of the key subcommittees outlined in the chart (SFOPs, Agriculture and LHHS).

  • Review your member of Congress’ website and communications to identify an upcoming town hall to attend over the next few months. Use the Engaging in Town Halls guidance to prepare.

  • Register now: August Recess Participant Workshop on Saturday, July 17, 1-2:30 p.m. EDT. This skill-building workshop is open to chapter members interested in participating in a congressional visit during August recess. Learn about hunger and forced displacement. Deepen your knowledge of the legislative ask. Practice preparing for congressional visits.
