July 2021: Lead the Way Together

CRS Programming and Stories

As we lead the way together this month, read the testimonies of missionary disciples in the United States dedicated to accelerating an end to hunger and forced displacement. Read, pray and act alongside them this month.

This Month's Actions

Leadership

  • Visit the Upcoming Events website to see virtual events universities are holding. Notify your CRS Regional Representative if your campus is hosting a CRS-focused virtual event.

National Chapter Call

All chapter leaders, members and advisors are invited to participate live in this month’s National Chapter Call on July 10 at 1 P.M. EDT.

  • If you do not receive the Zoom information on July 1 and would like to join, please email university@crs.org.

  • If you are unable to join live, the recording of the call will be sent via email to chapter leaders and advisors soon after the call concludes.

  • After watching the call (live or the recording), don’t forget to complete this month’s skill-building action sheet action.

Advocacy

  • July Skill-building Action Sheet (en español)

    • July’s Action Sheet action: The action this month follows up on the June Action Sheet.

          • During the month of July, write a personal email to your U.S. Senators urging them to speak with appropriations subcommittee leadership. Ask them to increase international poverty-reducing assistance in Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) before the Senate appropriations bills are drafted.
          • If you emailed your senators in June with the appropriations chart, inquire in your email if your U.S. Senators were able to submit any of the CRS/USCCB appropriations accounts in their official FY22 budget submission.
          • Report Back: Once you have a response from the office, share what you learned. Complete this form to help CRS track if congressional offices across the country submitted CRS/USCCB funding levels for priority accounts for FY22.
  • Register for and attend the August Recess Participant Workshop on Saturday, July 17, 1-2:30 P.M. EDT. This skill-building workshop is open to chapter members interested in participating in a congressional visit during August recess. Learn about hunger and forced displacement. Deepen your knowledge of the legislative ask. Practice preparing for congressional visits

  • Continue to review your member of Congress’ website and communications to identify an upcoming town hall to attend over the next few months. Use the Engaging in Town Halls guidance to prepare.
